Sumptuous Accommodation in the Old Courthouse

Sumptuous Accommodation in the Old Courthouse

Walford Court was thought to have been built as a courthouse, and within these walls resides the charm and character of 500 years of life. Deep oak beams contain carvings and ritual marks of carpenters long gone - there are no new extensions for guests to stay in - all bedrooms and sitting rooms share in the complete character of the house. We do have a few uneven floors, and low beams, but the ceiling height is generous and the rooms are large, as befitted a courthouse.

For that extra romantic occasion, why not try our Aragon Suite. Enter through the latched door into your very own sitting room, with views out to the front and back of the house. "The throne room" leads off the sitting room with a solid heavy oak door to befit its status. Step though to the bedroom, and the first sight to meet your eyes is our large full panelled hand carved oak four-poster bed - we even provide you with a small stool for access! For that decadent touch, we've put a large roll top bath in the bedroom, and you can soak away with the fragrance of scented candles - we've even supplied you with an over bath tray to hold your book and wine glass. From this room you have more views - over the garden and to the fields beyond, and up the old country lane at the side.

Or you can choose "Prince Arthur's room" (he doesn't mind you using it!), which is a spacious double room housing a king size rustic style, and very comfortable wooden bed, this room has a sitting area by the window, and superb oak floorboards which lead into the oak floored en-suite bathroom, again with a large roll top bath. for that truly relaxing stress relieving soak.

New for 2009 is our "Courthouse Suite".

The rooms over the old courthouse wing are now available. You'll find a large bedroom with king sized bed, superb views to the front ,and over to the motte and bailey at the rear of the house - up 2 steps to the most delightful little sitting area, with 2 leaded windows to the side of the house, and views to the fields beyond, and a further window with views to the back. A beautiful white en-suite bathroom with our trademark roll top bath awaits you through the old latched door from the sitting room.

Breakfasts and evening meals are served in our beautiful dining room, with its inglenook fireplace and bread oven. Through the large oak leaded windows you can view the gardens and ancient yew trees. On fine days in the Summer we are happy to serve meals in the garden. In the winter we'll keep you cosy with our wood-burning stove.

All bedrooms have televisions, and well-stocked tea trays, with a fresh supply of muffins provided every day. Wireless free broadband access is also available in the rooms if you can't do without your laptop!

From January 2009, to celebrate our success in the Flavours of Herefordshire award scheme, we are further promoting our excellent local producers by welcoming you to Walford Court with a few free sample tasters on your tea tray! Watch this space!

In the dining room we keep a jigsaw puzzle going, and there are a variety of games and books.

You'll find it hard not to relax and unwind in the tranquillity and beauty of the setting.

To check weekend availability you can view our availability page, which is updated regularly.
