Having both enjoyed relatively successful and enjoyable business careers we then entered the business merger period of our lives – which wasn’t fun! Having stayed in many chain hotels for business, we liked the idea of running a quirky but high quality B&B that was charming, stress free, and above all – different. We wanted to live our own Good Life. We didn’t change our names to Tom and Barbara - or buy goats and pigs and dig over our back garden, but we did set about looking for a place that made us go Oooh Aaah! We fell in love with and bought Walford Court in the winter of 2003 – a beautiful old timber framed former courthouse, set in outstanding countryside, with amazing atmosphere and character – we had found somewhere we would have loved to stay.
We want Walford Court to be an experience you won't forget, something you'll recommend to friends - a welcome, relaxing break from the stress of everyday life that you will recall with fondness. Our pleasure is to welcome you to our home on arrival, watch you truly unwind and relax, and say goodbye to you as friends when you depart. This beautiful old house provides the ambience and the atmosphere in which to enjoy a relaxing break - the romance is down to you!
Our breakfast buffet will be waiting for you when you awake, and we’ll freshly prepare a hot breakfast to order. We use our local butchers award winning sausages and bacon, and free-range eggs from my “girls” who live in our orchard field.
We make every effort to provide a truly personal service, evening meals are cooked specifically for you on our AGA, using our organically home grown fruit and vegetables, we'll supply some music, candlelight and the warmth of a log burning fire when the nights are chilly, or we'll serve it in the garden on a warm evening. You may bring the wine - we'll supply the glasses!
We can provide you with a packed lunch, and the Walford Court tearoom menu can be used to order lunches or suppers - in your room, in the dining room, or in the garden.
